Laura Lowery Boston University Faculty Member and Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion maintains various academic accolades and certifications. In 2000, Lowery earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Revelle College: University of California, San Diego. Lowery graduated with Cum Laude distinction in the completion of her Bachelor’s. Eager to achieve the highest level of expertise as a Scientist, Lowery’s journey in academia was far from over after receiving her Bachelor of Science degree. In 2001, she completed her Master of Science in Biology, also at the University of California, San Diego, before continuing onto Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2008, Lowery completed her PhD in Biology at MIT. Honing in on a focus in Biomedical Studies, she contributed to studies and program development within her field of medicine at Harvard Medical School as part of her Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Throughout her collegiate and doctoral studies, Laura Lowery PhD was honored by receiving numerous accolades. She received the Ernest C. Mort Leadership Excellence Award from Revelle College, University of California, San Diego, the Revelle College Outstanding Academic Leadership Excellence Award and the Abraham J. Siegel Fellowship from Whitehead Institute.

Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
Since 2020, Laura Lowery PhD has represented Boston University as Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion within the Hematology and Oncology Department of Medicine. In addition to this role, Lowery is also a Chair Member of the Anti-Racism Committee at Boston Medical Center. In this capacity, the Boston University Faculty Member is tasked with ensuring that the teams at BU and BMC are effectively fostering an environment of diversity, equity and inclusion. This role assists in maintaining a productive and professionally positive atmosphere within the faculty. As a self-identified empath, Lowery is passionate about making the most of this opportunity by positively impacting and inspiring others on her team as Director of DEI.
